Summary of the contracting process

The University of Edinburgh issued a tender for an "Online Events System" to facilitate large virtual events, necessitated by the Covid-19 crisis. This procurement process, classified under the goods category, employed a limited method without prior publication, reflecting the urgent need to adapt to online operations. The procurement phase has been completed, with the tender's award date recorded on 7 August 2020. The financial value of the contract is £191,316, and the delivery is intended for Edinburgh, UK.

This contract presents significant opportunities for technology firms, particularly those specialising in online event management systems or digital platforms. Given the current focus on virtual events, businesses with expertise in software development, event technology solutions, and related services would be well-positioned to compete for future tenders. Additionally, smaller enterprises may also find opportunities to engage with larger contractors, especially considering that one bid was received from a small to medium-sized enterprise for this contract.
