Summary of the contracting process

East Lothian Council is currently in the Tender stage of a public procurement process titled "Construction Framework," aimed at establishing a framework of works contractors for various types of construction projects in East Lothian, UK. This framework, valued at £18 million, encompasses traditional and design and build projects related to educational, community, commercial, and infrastructure facilities, and is set for a maximum duration of four years, beginning with an initial two years. The deadline for submissions is 16 April 2021.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for construction firms, especially those specialising in educational and community buildings, to expand their operations in the public sector. Businesses seeking to compete should have the capacity to handle multiple project lots and demonstrate relevant previous experience, as the framework allows bidders to apply for up to four lots across various value bands. Given the value bands range from small projects (£0-100,000) to larger initiatives (up to £4.73 million), firms of all sizes, with strong local engagement and a commitment to community benefits, are encouraged to participate.
