Award of Delivery Train Manager
Notice Description
1 x Delivery Train Manager based in Scottish Government Offices - Atlantic Quay, Glasgow or Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. Must have flexibility to work on occasions in other SG offices as well as home working. At present, all staff working from home.As the programme continues to develop the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology across the programme, there is a requirement to establish a number of teams to support in this area. Specifically, the programme is looking to recruit an experienced Delivery Train Manager (this broadly aligns with the SAFe Release Train Engineer role) to support the ongoing live delivery within the programme. The delivery of Agile Release Train principles must be in parallel with the ongoing delivery of the core programme capabilities.Main duties include:* Support the strategic development and implementation of Agile Release Train (ART) principles within the programme* Support the ongoing live delivery of the programme work streams within these ART across multiple work streams* Minimise any negative impacts on delivery teams through ART rollout* Support Agile teams in the delivery of the ART features/components* Coaching team members across the ART to ensure principles are known, understood and the transition to ART is consistent across the programme* Develop communications plan to engage multiple stakeholders at all levels across the programme* Ensure risk and escalation processes are in place to support the ART* Oversee governance and run appropriate ART forums/sessions (i.e. scrum of scrums, PI planning)* Provide input to the ongoing development of the Value StreamKey skills & experience:* Extensive experience of Agile delivery in complex environments* Experience of working within a programme using Scaled Agile principles, preferable as a Release Train Engineer* Demonstrate the delivery of SAFe within a programme of mixed Agile maturity* Ability to work across multiple functions and suppliers to ensure consistent, joined up and supportive delivery* Demonstrate a pragmatic and flexible approach to the implementation of ARTs within a live programme* Demonstrate experience in shaping, developing and delivering a Programme Increment planning session* Ability to blend SAFe skills with practical and pragmatic delivery experience, with a willingness to get involved in all areas of delivery* Leadership skills to inspire and motivate delivery teams
