Youth Music Initiative - Traditional Music
Notice Description
We are looking for a partner organisation to deliver traditional music workshops which will be accessed by every pupil in the authority before they leave primary 5. This project will be delivered to all primary 4 and in some cases primary 5 pupils who did not receive the project last year, in 98 primary schools across Dumfries and Galloway. Classes can take up the offer of one of the following music making options: 1 Tin whistle 2 Ukulele 3 Traditional Song (Scots and/or Gaelic) 4 Group Music Making All music making options will also include elements of creativity and composition as well as a performance at the end of the 12 week block. Sustaining technological developments of this project from school closures including the creation of digital sound post cards will form an important part of sharing creativity and learning. To increase sustainability, there will be CPD twilights on offer across the authority provided by the partner organisation in collaboration with Dumfries and Galloway Council. In addition, there will be a collation and creation of additional music resources for teachers, in order to enhance the sustainability and legacy of the music project in schools, and to give teachers clear pathways for progression during and beyond the project. In addition, each school will receive a performance during the first week of the project from the musicians running the projects for the whole school.
