Summary of the contracting process

The Shetland Islands Council is conducting an open tender for the "Fair Isle and Grutness Ferry Terminal Developments - Ground Investigations (Marine and Terrestrial)" project, which involves marine and terrestrial ground investigations at North Haven, Fair Isle, and Grutness on the Shetland Mainland. The procurement, categorised under works, is currently in the active tender stage with a bid opening date set for 6th December 2021, while submissions must be received by the same date. The total value of the contract is £620,000, and interested parties are encouraged to submit their tenders electronically through the specified platform.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in civil engineering, environmental consultancy, and geotechnical services, particularly those capable of performing both marine and land-based investigations. Companies with a strong track record in executing similar contracts, especially those with relevant certifications and financial stability, will be well-suited to compete. The project’s requirements for thorough qualifications and experience in executing comprehensive ground investigation works make it an ideal fit for established firms looking to expand their portfolio in the Scottish public sector.
