Notice Title

Award of 680_0092 Waste Management Consultancy

Notice Description

The Scottish Government is committed to tackling the climate emergency and are committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. Forestry has a huge part to play in helping to meet this target, by locking in significant amounts of carbon within trees, soil and peatlands.Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) are already adapting how we work, but there are more opportunities to take action across our forests and land. We currently manage 9% of Scotland's land mass and our work will help Scotland to reach Net Zero.As we continue to develop and improve our working practices an important aspect of our management of these land resources is how we deal with much of the material by-products of our operations - previously determined to be waste. To view these materials now, where possible as a resource to reuse, repurpose or recycle, while minimising the initial production of waste through more innovative design and work practices or the adoption of service models.Core to this aim is the maintenance of our internal FLS Waste Management Operational Guidance Document, Waste Directory and associated waste management systems. These documents detail all the relevant legislation that apply to our operations alongside an accompanying set of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all legislative requirements are met and wherever possible exceeded.
