Notice Title
Cockenzie Link Road Works
Notice Description
East Lothian Council (ELC) intends to carry out works by way of alterations to the former Cockenzie Power Station Service Road and alterations to the existing B1348 and B6371/Alder Road by formation of a new link road, shared use path, footpath, swale and signalised junctions.
Lot Information
Lot 1
East Lothian Council (ELC) intends to carry out works to upgrade and improve the existing service road within the former Cockenzie Power Station site, which will be widened from its current 6 metre width to provide a 7.3-metre-wide new carriageway which will also be realigned to form new signalised junctions at the eastern and western tie-ins to the B1348 and B6371, respectively. A new footway link and a 5-metre-wide active travel corridor will also be provided in parallel to significantly improve accessibility to, and through, the site for pedestrians and cyclists, with the route sensitively lit along its entire length to ensure legibility and safety, whilst protecting amenity. Appropriate drainage, landscaping and environmental mitigation measures are also proposed as part of the proposals to integrate, and maximise, existing site features and help to improve the longer-term environmental performance and climate resilience. The scope is to be defined. It is anticipated that construction works will start Summer 2022, and it is estimated that the duration of the construction project will be 12 months, although this is subject to change.
