Skye Iconic Sites Project - Fairy Pools Paths
Notice Description
The Natural and Cultural Heritage Fund (NCHF), funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with support from other local funding partners, have awarded funding to the Skye Iconic Sites Project (SISP). For the purposes of this contract the project involves machine build path upgrade and new path work at one of Skye's iconic sites at the Fairy Pools, Glenbrittle.
Lot Information
Lot 1
As part of the Skye Iconic Sites Project: to construct new sections of aggregate path, along the old Fairy Pools Main path (approx. 1.3km long, 2m width). Plastic pipe culverts and stone headwalls are a feature of the work, used to replace existing cross drains with the aim of making the path more accessible to visitors. Emphasis will be on achieving the required camber on slopes. In addition new sections of path (approx. 0.3km long, 1.5m to 1.8m width) will lead off from the main path to and from viewpoints popular with visitors. The aggregate will be imported from a Skye quarry. A Helicopter is required to deliver aggregate materials for the upper sections of the project, sections no.3,5 & 6.
