Notice Title

Rothesay Town Centre to Joint Campus Technical Design

Notice Description

Rothesay is a historic town, with a mix of medieval, post-medieval and Victorian architecture. Despite the important historical value of the town there are significant areas in the top 10% of SIMD areas and most of the town in the top 30% of SIMD areas. The B881 High Street is one of the main routes into Rothesay as well as providing access to key residential, employment, retail, transport, leisure, health, community and education facilities. This project will improve this key route for Rothesay and the wider Isle of Bute to support and encourage uptake of active travel in an area of high deprivation and assist residents and visitors to access the full range of local facilities. The infrastructure project will build upon recent and ongoing behaviour change work by the Council and our partners, including the recently launched Rothesay active travel smartphone app and Bute e-bike hire scheme. To date, the project has completed the developed design stage (stage 3) and this tender is to complete the design work to fully deliverable Technical Design (stage 4) in line with the Places for Everyone requirements. Strong placemaking and route development design will be required, including appropriate traffic calming.
