Summary of the contracting process

The recent procurement process led by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde involves the award of refurbishment works in the A&E department of the Adults building at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), located in Glasgow. The tender encompasses a series of construction works aimed at enhancing specified areas within the department. The award was finalised on 5th August 2022, with the works scheduled to commence on 1st September 2022 and conclude by 31st December 2022. The procurement method used for this process falls under traditional public procurement regulations, with the contract awarded to MMM Joinery Ltd for a total value of £65,556.32 based on a unit price of £2,260.56 for each of the 29 bays involved.

This contract presents significant growth opportunities for businesses in the construction and refurbishment sectors, particularly those experienced in working within healthcare environments. Companies that specialise in construction, project management, and compliance with health and safety regulations, especially in high-risk areas, are well-suited to compete for similar tenders in the future. The tender requirements also highlight the necessity for flexibility and effective communication with hospital operational staff, indicating that suppliers with proven experience in such settings may have an advantage.
