Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is initiated by The Common Services Agency, also known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), for the supply of Fresh Milk and Cream Products. This tender falls under the goods category and is intended for delivery across various NHS Scotland Health Boards, including both mainland and island boards. The contract is currently in the Award stage, with the value set at £1,700,000 and specified for a duration of 360 days. Following its signature on 20th June 2022, modifications are being made to meet additional demands arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, with the next tender process planned to commence by the end of May 2023.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for companies involved in food and beverage supply, particularly those that focus on dairy products. Businesses such as local dairies and suppliers of fresh and organic food can compete effectively, given the demand for high-quality milk and cream products throughout the NHS framework. The intended reach of this tender across all Scottish Health Boards and Special Boards broadens the competitive landscape and encourages participation from both large-scale and smaller suppliers who can meet the necessary quality and supply standards.
