TENSILE MEMBRANE STRUCTURE Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (hereinafter referred to as 'the Comhairle'), the local government authority for the Western Isles of Scotland, proposes to construct a new multi-use facility at Stornoway Primary School, on the Isle of Lewis. The Comhairle's aspiration is to provide a facility with a sports hall equivalent to four badminton courts plus ancillary accommodation and storage for a building footprint size totalling approximately 700m2. The outline design is based on a proprietary tensile membrane structure (TMS) comprising a metal frame with an insulated exterior fabric envelope. The Comhairle is seeking to gauge market interest in delivering a product that meets the following requirements: - A building with an insulated envelope that is fully compliant with Building Regulations (Scottish Technical Standards) - A building designed to relevant British Standards including structure and wind loading appropriate for location - A TMS product warranty with a minimum guarantee, 40 years on structure, and, 25 years on the external envelope - Supply and delivery to the site. The terms can be supply and deliver only and/or supply, deliver and erect. Groundworks, foundations and internal fit-out will be carried out by a works contractor under separate contract.
