Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government has awarded the contract for the "Face Covering Exemption Card Scheme" to Disability Equality Scotland. The procurement method used was direct, with a single supplier awarded the contract without competition. The tender period started on November 25, 2022, and will end on August 25, 2023. The contract was signed on November 23, 2022. The scheme falls under the services category and aims to address incidents of individuals being denied access to shops and essential services when not wearing a face covering.

This procurement opportunity presents a chance for third sector organisations specialising in service delivery and administration to engage with the Scottish Government. Businesses offering innovative digital solutions for managing exemption cards could find this tender particularly suited to their expertise. The direct award nature of the procurement process indicates a focused approach to working with a single supplier to continue providing essential services ensuring access for those exempt from wearing face coverings.
