Summary of the contracting process

The South Lanarkshire Council has awarded a contract for the 'Negotiated Procedure for the Servicing and Maintenance of Fire Alarms and Intruder Alarms' to King Communications & Security Ltd. This procurement process was classified as a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at £140,150.40 GBP, was signed on December 19, 2022, for a period of 5 years with an optional extension of up to 36 months. The procurement aimed to address the need for servicing and maintaining specific closed protocol fire alarm and intruder alarm systems within the council's properties located in Hamilton, UK.

This opportunity can benefit businesses in the service industry, especially those with expertise in fire alarms and security systems maintenance. The closed protocol nature of the systems required compatibility with specific manufacturer devices, leading to a limited pool of qualified suppliers. Companies with a track record in similar contracts and the technical expertise to handle closed protocol installations would be well-suited to compete for similar tenders in the future. The South Lanarkshire Council's procurement focused on ensuring the continuous satisfactory operation of critical fire and intruder alarm systems throughout their properties, emphasizing the significance of quality service provision in this particular industry category.
