Notice Description
To undertake a market appraisal of tourism in the local area, an analysis of the current visitor offer at Benmore Garden, and provide recommendations for the scale and ambition of site development. This will be a detailed consultation, involving staff training and engagement, developing a strategy to evaluate the tourism proposition at Benmore Botanic Garden and assess the potential for strengthening this offer, to increase the wider economic benefits of the site. The outcome of this piece of work will be a strategy that will enable RBGE to make an informed decision about the possible development of a 'World Garden' at Benmore Botanic Garden to appeal to Argyllshire residents, helping to promote the Wellbeing Economy, as well as the tourism appeal to the domestic market and potential international visitors. The consultation will provide insights into the unique market characteristics of the area and ensure that Benmore Botanic Garden will be more assured of success as it makes recommendations for business development and a new phase of ambitious growth. It will also explore the potential of a new marketable 'southwestern gateway' to the Cowal Peninsula and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Benmore Botanic Garden Market Analysis and Options Appraisal To undertake a market appraisal of tourism in the local area, an analysis of the current visitor offer at Benmore Garden, and provide recommendations for the scale and ambition of site development. This will be a detailed consultation, involving staff training and engagement, developing a strategy to evaluate the tourism proposition at Benmore Botanic Garden and assess the potential for strengthening this offer, to increase the wider economic benefits of the site. The outcome of this piece of work will be a strategy that will enable RBGE to make an informed decision about the possible development of a 'World Garden' at Benmore Botanic Garden to appeal to Argyllshire residents, helping to promote the Wellbeing Economy, as well as the tourism appeal to the domestic market and potential international visitors. By the end of the contract, contractors should provide RBGE with: Audience research and mosaic profiling to provide an informed view of demographic data for the area A costed plan for a walled garden feature, including a visitor experience analysis for the garden and a space plan for how the walled garden feature will work Taking into consideration the impact of Covid on the tourist market Establishing opportunities for developing tourist offering at Benmore Gardens, both locally, nationally and internationally, including the cruise ship market via Greenock and Dunoon Project must be completed by 20th March 2023
Renewal: 12 Months. Subject to RBGE operational need and funding.
