Information on New Facility The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise. It is where industry, research and the public sector work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation. It will attract investment and make Scotland a global leader in advanced manufacturing. NMIS HQ is located in Renfrewshire close to Glasgow Airport and the existing Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) which - together with the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre (LMC) - is part of the wider NMIS group. NMIS comprises of 3 main elements: - Digital factory to develop the processes and technologies to address companies' manufacturing challenges or opportunities - Manufacturing skills academy to provide advanced manufacturing training and upskilling for individuals at all levels of their career - Collaborative hub to enable companies and their supply chain to work on new projects together without disrupting their existing production lines NMIS is at the heart of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) which also houses the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC). Supplier Engagement Day NMIS recognise there are challenges in delivering this cafe for staff, visitors, members and the surrounding AMIDS park users. NMIS would like to engage with local suppliers to establish what could be delivered and what the delivery model would look like throughout the period of growth in the next 2-3 years. NMIS has a vision of what the service delivery would look like, however we would prefer to work collaboratively with a supplier to ensure delivery is achievable and where the challenges are at this stage. Therefore, we will host a supplier engagement day at the building to allow discussion with suppliers and provide an opportunity to visit the site. Estimated Foot Fall Building can accommodate up to 250 staff and 250 visitors at any time. There is currently a set up and transition period with reduced numbers of staff/visitors on site in the initial months increasing throughout the following 1-2 years. During the first year visitor numbers will be high (>200-400). This will include local and international visits, e.g. project teams, senior executives, government officials and industry leaders. The cafe will provide a service for the local AMIDS site which includes MMIC and future developments. It will also be open to the general public in due course. However, we expect footfall to be low to begin with and increase from year 2 onwards as the park develops. Existing Kitchen Facilities Please see attached drawing Types of Food/Drink Hot & cold beverages Cakes and snacks Lite lunches; sandwiches, soup, paninis etc Hot food options longer term as numbers increase Advanced Ordering Option Advance email, verbal or telephone ordering, supplier proposals welcome Operating Hours Standard 8am-4pm with option for later catering as we move into year 2 Optional Services (Large Scale Event Catering) Large event space within the building. Ideally catering for these events would be provided by the cafe in the longer term, although we understand that this may be something to work towards during year 1 of the contract Sustainability No single use plastics Loyalty/reduced costs for using own containers Compostable single use containers Sustainable coffee beans, no coffee pods unless recyclable/compostable Plant-based & dairy-free alternatives Local produce, minimal food miles Fair trade Branding Branding locally at the cafe. The building is an NMIS building therefore branding needs to be agreed and discussed Food Hygiene Food hygiene rating must be 5 or pass. You must put in place food safety management procedures based on the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP). Part of complying with food safety is managing food hygiene and food standards to ensure the food served is safe to eat
