The RoleThe post holder will provide expert advice to Scottish Ministers and officials, including the Chief Entrepreneur, on how we leverage Scotland's colleges and universities to create a much higher volume of promising start-up companies. A key deliverable from the National Strategy for Economic Transformation, Entrepreneurial Campuses will deliver a new innovative way to embed entrepreneurship in colleges, and universities, and establish hotbeds of start-up creation. The post-holder will develop the strategy and blueprint for Entrepreneurial Campuses with a focus on how to inspire and engage students and academic staff with entrepreneurship and innovation learning. The target end result would be an increase of the rate of start-up creation from tertiary education sector and increased employment within a scaling business, which would help to grow and retain entrepreneurial talent in Scotland.Main Duties- Drafting the strategy and blueprint for Entrepreneurial Campuses.- Advising on implementation.- Gaining stakeholder buy-in.- Briefing and advising Scottish Ministers and Scottish Government officials, including the ChiefEntrepreneur on the development and delivery of this economic policy.Person SpecificationA proven track record in advising Scottish Ministers on delivery of economic policy. Experience of the entrepreneurship in Scotland, from start-ups to scale-ups. An understanding of the tertiary education landscape in Scotland, and a developed network of education and entrepreneurship stakeholders in Scotland.Essential Criteria- Proven track record of providing high quality advice to Scottish Ministers on economic policy.- Expertise of growing and scaling businesses in Scotland.- A personal network of relevant and senior academic and entrepreneurial contacts.- Ability to form a well-reasoned view on delivery of policy interventions, based on comprehensiveexpertise and understanding of the Scottish entrepreneurship and education landscape.- A strong understanding of best international practice in embedding entrepreneurship and- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to present options to addresssensitive or complex issues in a clear, concise and accessible manner.- Effective handling skills with an ability to make sound judgements.
