This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

The University of Edinburgh has awarded a contract to LI-COR Biosciences UK Ltd for the purchase of a multi-modal imaging system known as LI-COR Odyssey M Roslin. This procurement process, which was conducted through a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, has reached completion. The system is intended for imaging in near-infrared and visible fluorescence, bio- and chemiluminescence. The equipment selected is considered the gold standard and is essential for reliable data capture across various applications.

This procurement process, initiated by the University of Edinburgh, presents business growth opportunities for suppliers in the goods category, particularly those specialising in imaging technology and life sciences. The procurement method rationale indicates the uniqueness of the equipment chosen and the absence of competition due to technical reasons. Suppliers with expertise in multi-modal imaging systems and advanced scientific equipment would be well-suited to compete for similar tenders in the future.

Notice Title

LI-COR Odyssey M Roslin

Notice Description

Purchase of multi-modal imaging system for Western blot, plate reader, slide scanner, and luminescence imaging. Capable of imaging in near-infrared and visible fluorescence, bio- and chemiluminescence.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Odyssey M Imager provides reliable data for membranes, plate-based assays, slides, and nucleic acid and protein gels. It's versatile and can capture assays in 18 channels, including white light, luminescence (i.e., bioluminescence and chemiluminescence) and fluorescence (i.e., visible and near-infrared (NIR)).

Procurement Information

The end user has researched the market based on their equipment needs and are confident that the equipment selected represents the only viable solution for their needs. The equipment is considered the gold standard. In addition, to allow the generation of results that are compliant with publication requirements, the Odyssey M Infrared Imaging System is equipped with a number of technical specifications and patents that are exclusive in this combination. This includes: - Automatic image capture that offers a dynamic range of greater than 6 logs (22-bit) in a single acquisition. - Use of a 16-bit floating point data format (equals 22-bit) to utilise the 6 logs dynamic range of the system. - Combination of laser point scanning and sCMOS image sensor technology in a line scanning system that incorporates differential scanning, bi-telecentric imaging, filtering and laser combining for highly sensitive detection in visible and NIR channels and consistent image quality across entire scan surface. - Software (Empiria Studio) to enable data analysis in accordance with current publication requirements, without the need to export the date into other software platforms (MS excel, Prism). Empiria Studio is the only software on the market that allows the export of results for direct publication or to send all results to the publication reporters. Empiria Studio was developed in collaboration with leading journals such as Journal of Biochemistry, Nature, Cell and Rockefeller University Press. This software is the only software on the market that takes the researcher from Western experimental validation to image and data analysis / statistics and reporting
