Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government's SASA division has awarded a contract for the provision of PR services under the SG Framework SP-21-017 Lot 4 (Direct Award). The contract, valued at £10,000, has been awarded to Smarts, based in Glasgow. The procurement falls under the "Business services: law, marketing, consulting, recruitment, printing and security" category. This award is part of the support process for establishing the office of the independent Pubs Code Adjudicator of Scotland, which is anticipated to go live in early 2025. The procurement method employed was a direct award, implying that the contract was given to a single supplier without a competitive process. The contract was officially signed on 9th October 2024, with the tender period commencing on 10th January 2024.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specialising in public relations and marketing to engage with a prominent government body, potentially bolstering their portfolio and visibility. Companies that have expertise in strategic communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement will find this tender particularly beneficial. As the role aims to support the newly appointed Scottish Pubs Code Adjudicator, businesses with experience in regulatory communications within the food, drink, and hospitality sectors are well-suited to compete for similar future tenders. This procurement highlights the importance of tailored PR services in regulatory and legislative settings, offering growth and networking prospects within government frameworks.
