Notice Title
Optimising Woodland Design for Biodiversity and Long-Term Management within Wild Strathfillan
Notice Description
We require a contractor experienced in planning woodland creation sites, with a detailed knowledge of the biodiversity potential of woodland habitats along with experience of implementing best-practice guidance to maximise benefits to biodiversity and to enable long-term management. Over the estimated duration: October to December 2024 the successful contractor will be required to: - Summarise woodland creation and long-term management best practice in the context of the Wild Strathfillan area, including advice relevant to the habitats and species found in the area, adopting a cross-taxa approach and providing focused advice on key species of conservation concern in the area. This information will be summarised in a report. - Consider how initiatives from other environmental NGOs, for example Butterfly Conservation's 'Wild Spaces' can be incorporated into woodland design to ensure that the habitat created is diverse, heterogeneous and thoughtfully designed, so it can support a wide range of species. - Equip Wild Strathfillan with tailored information to ensure woodland creation and future management is optimally executed.
Lot Information
Lot 1
Scope: 1.Identify species of conservation concern and priority species in the Wild Strathfillan area, by consulting designation reports, the UK Red List, species records (where openly available), and other resources. 2. For relevant woodland habitats, collate, review and report on woodland creation and management advice relating to the following species groups. Create tailored recommendations based on Wild Strathfillan's habitats, geographic location, species, and ambitions. 3.Using the Wild Strathfillan boundary area, and using up-to-date best practice on woodland creation, biodiversity and long-term management practices, create a woodland plan for Wild Strathfillan to optimise the biodiversity potential and plan for long-term management for woodland creation in Wild Strathfillan.
