Summary of the contracting process

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) has executed the Mechanised Ground Preparation Framework Agreement for services across Scotland's National Forests and Land. This procurement process, initiated on the 6th December 2024, involves different phases with the latest award taking place on 25th April 2025. The contract pertains to environmental protection services under the CPV code 77300000 and has reached the Award stage. A total of £41,570,000 has been allocated across six lots, each focusing on different regions of Scotland for ground preparation services post-harvesting. Prior deadlines were extended to 10th February 2025 to accommodate tenderers, ensuring flexibility and ample participation time.

This tender opens substantial opportunities for service providers, particularly SMEs adept in mechanised forestry operations. As the framework allows room for subcontracting and optional service procurement, businesses specialising in forestry machinery operations, environmental management, and ground preparation techniques can thrive by offering essential services like trench mounding and V-drains. FLS's commitment to delivering community benefits further encourages local engagement, apprenticeships, and skills training, making this tender ideal for businesses looking to expand their reach, develop skills within their workforce, and contribute to community-enhancing initiatives. Suppliers can maximise growth potential by forming partnerships and providing specialized services, ensuring compliance with technical qualifications and environmental standards.
