Summary of the contracting process

The University of Strathclyde has initiated a public procurement process for the "Supply, Delivery, Installation of Scanning Acoustic Microscopy equipment" aimed at equipping its NMIS (National Manufacturing Institute Scotland) with C-SAM (scanning acoustic microscope) capability. The procuring entity, based in Glasgow (UKM82), seeks advanced equipment suitable for a semiconductor manufacturing environment to non-destructively inspect work-pieces, identifying delamination and structural discontinuities. This procurement was conducted through an open procedure, with key events including the tender issuance on 1st October 2024, the tender submission deadline on 31st October 2024, and the contract award dated 10th January 2025. The procurement has been completed, and the contract was awarded to Industrial Production Processes Ltd for a total value of £350,554.00.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in the manufacturing and supply of high-precision microscopy equipment, particularly those with a focus on the semiconductor industry. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like Industrial Production Processes Ltd, which successfully secured the contract, can enhance their market reach and reputation through such high-profile engagements. Companies with expertise in advanced imaging technology, precision machinery, and quality manufacturing processes are well-suited to compete for similar contracts, thereby gaining access to new business avenues and expanding their operational footprint.
