Lot Information
Lot 1
Fife Employment Access Trust are seeking a musician to lead a series of workshops with young adults and co-produce a soundscape on a self-employed basis. Silverburn Park Background A major community-led initiative for wellbeing, enterprise and employment, benefiting the people of Levenmouth and beyond. Once home to the Russell Family, Silverburn Park was gifted to the town council in 1973 and for many years ran as an animal farm, a craft centre and hosted campers and a range of events. The activities and buildings closed during the 1990s. The currently derelict B-listed former Flax Mill building will be brought back to life, creating a sustainable and iconic centre piece for Silverburn Park. In 2019, Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT) signed a lease agreement with an aim to regenerate the park for a sustainable future. Silverburn Flax Mill will be transformed into a cafe, hostel and event space thanks to our funders, including the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Visit www.silverburnpark.co.uk/flaxmill to find out more about Silverburn Flax Mill. Alongside the funding for the renovation works, the National Lottery Heritage Fund also support a wide range of activities to engage the general public, park visitors and FEAT's service users. The Activity Plan is well underway and groups and individuals of all age groups have been involved in projects connecting heritage, community and wellbeing. One of the agreed activities is a soundscapes project, for which we are seeking a Project Lead on a self-employed basis. The project lead is responsible for providing instruments and any AV equipment for the project. Research volunteers and the Flax Mill Activities Coordinator are available to support the lead musician in researching the Flax Mill and flax industry history. The Flax Mill Activities Coordinator will recruit local young adults for the project. A separate budget will cover volunteer travel and subsistence.
