Lot Information
Lot 1
The Victorian Palm House (VPH) at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh is currently undergoing significant refurbishment of the building envelope, due for completion in Summer 2025. The VPH building is a masterpiece of Victorian architecture and engineering, with it being listed as Category A. The Scope of Works in this project is to complete a high-quality fit out of the internal hard landscaping and furniture elements. The VPH will be the first building in the BIOMES project to restore the collection of North-East corner glasshouses and will welcome paying visitors to the site after a number of years with no access. The project will be a major showpiece to RBGE and subject to significant press and marketing campaigns to increase visitor numbers and funding for refurbishment projects to the wider gardens. The VPH occupies an internal footprint of 655m2 and features recently refurbished cast iron columns and a heating trench complete with new infrastructure to heat the glasshouse. The works will all be carried out at FFL of the building with exception to any vertical planting systems. There will also be a requirement for some external works in order to facilitate access to the site by the Public. The site therefore covers the Victorian Palm House, surrounding area externally to the southwest and some satellite areas of external hard surfacing. Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh wishes to appoint a suitably experienced contractor to undertake hard landscaping works who can demonstrate their ability to deliver high quality craftsmanship in and around soft landscape schemes. The works will be carried out under NEC4 Engineering and Construction Short Contract conditions.
Renewal: RBGE reserve the right to extend the contract duration if required
