THE COMMON SERVICES AGENCY (MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS NHS NATIONAL SERVICES SCOTLAND) (NSS)

This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency, more commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), has completed a procurement process to extend the National Primary Care Clinician Database (NPCCD) for a period of 12 months. The procurement, which falls under the health industry category, was managed to ensure continued compliance with Scottish Government regulations. The tender was awarded to Sword IT Solutions, based in Edinburgh, and the contract commenced on 4th March 2025. The extension was necessary to allow for the continuity of services while a future procurement is planned. The procurement method used was a limited award procedure without prior publication, due to the need for services that were not included in the initial procurement but are essential for operational continuity.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in IT solutions, specifically those capable of managing and extending large-scale databases essential for healthcare compliance. The awarded contract, valued at £372,000, was pursued under tight regulations, which emphasise the importance of technical compatibility and continuity. Companies with a demonstrated ability to maintain and develop complex IT systems for public health organisations would find this type of procurement especially advantageous for growth, providing a chance to establish long-term relationships with governmental health bodies.
