NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE

This public procurement record has 2 releases in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has completed a procurement process for the maintenance of Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The contract, awarded to Aerocom (UK) Limited due to their unique capability to maintain the existing Otsaw Swisslog Healthcare Robotics GmbH AGV system, was executed without the prior publication of a call for competition using a limited procurement method. This decision, formalised through a Voluntary Ex Ante Transparency (VEAT) Notice, ensures compliance with procurement regulations and mitigates risks associated with system disruption. The active contract, signed on 13th March 2025, is valued at £800,000 and runs until 31st March 2030, underlining the public health sector’s commitment to maintaining high-quality healthcare services in Glasgow.

This procurement presents targeted opportunities primarily for specialised businesses experienced in healthcare robotics and system maintenance, particularly those with existing capable infrastructure or expertise in the Otsaw Swisslog AGV systems. Companies like Aerocom (UK) Limited, which is identified as an SME, exemplify the ideal candidate due to their specialised competence. Given the closed nature of the contract, other businesses may focus on exploring similar contracts in niche healthcare sectors with specific technological requirements, thereby gaining traction through tailored service offerings and leveraging industry-specific expertise to secure future opportunities.
