School of Biology - Nutrient Analyser

UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS

This public procurement record has 2 releases in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

The University of St Andrews, located in Guardbridge, Fife, has successfully completed the procurement process for a nutrient analyser to enhance research and teaching at its School of Biology's Scottish Oceans Institute. This tender, conducted through an open procedure, involved the procurement of goods classified under the CPV code 38434500. SEAL Analytical Ltd, a company based in Wrexham, secured the contract, which was signed on 3rd July 2025 for an amount of £72,175.17. The equipment, required to support marine and soil research through high-precision analysis, was expected to be delivered and operational by the end of July 2025 to ensure continuity in academic activities.

This procurement presents business growth opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in analytical instruments and educational sector supplies. Companies capable of providing highly precise laboratory equipment, with expertise in serving educational institutions, especially within the environmental and biochemical sectors, would find this contract attractive. Furthermore, this project highlights the potential market for businesses that offer long-term technical support and maintenance services, as these are integral to the University’s requirements for warranty and software updates throughout the equipment's lifecycle. The emphasis on features like minimal reagent usage and compatibility with seawater samples suggests opportunities for innovation in sustainable research solutions.
