Notice Description

1c Shared Home This contract is for the provision of Shared House. A Shared House is accommodation with up to forty-five bedrooms (any properties with more rooms must have prior agreement with the Council). Each household (usually an individual or a couple) must have their own lockable bedroom, access to bathroom, living room and kitchen (see service specification for detail for each rooms requirements) It is expected that turnover of rooms will be low. It can take up to two years or more for people assessed as homeless to be offered alternative accommodation. Average length of stay for Shared Houses is approximately 5 months though some are significantly higher or lower than this. Properties awarded a place on the framework do not breach the Unsuitable Accommodation Order by providing either self-contained properties within a block with staff on site 24 hours a day or a shared property which provides each household with exclusive use of toilet and personal washing facilities and access to a living room and kitchen which may be shared with other households. To be deemed as suitable, accommodation must also be accessible 24 hours a day.
