This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

Midlothian Council is in the planning stage of a public procurement process for the provision of support services for children and young people with a disability, specifically focusing on day respite and activity services. This initiative is intended to operate within Midlothian, UKM73, extending its services during term time, weekends, and school holidays. The services fall under the "General public services" industry category, with an emphasis on care packages that meet specific assessed needs. Interested providers are invited to register notes of interest by 15 July 2025, which may lead to engagement for market research purposes. This notice serves as a preliminary step towards gathering interest and is not a formal invitation to tender.

This tender represents a promising opportunity for businesses experienced in delivering care services for disabled children and young people. Companies that specialise in providing tailored support, skill-building activities, and peer interaction opportunities will find this an ideal project to offer their expertise. The tender is not just limited to large organisations; smaller specialised service providers and community-based organisations could also greatly benefit by expanding their reach and gaining exposure within the local authority framework. By engaging with Midlothian Council, businesses can explore new avenues for collaboration and growth in the public services sector.

Notice Title

Support Services for Children & Young People with a Disability

Notice Description

Midlothian Council is seeking notes of interest from suitably experienced providers in relation to the provision of day respite and activity services for children / young people with a disability in Midlothian during term time (including weekends) and school holidays.

Lot Information

Lot 1

As a Local Authority we provide over 200 children with a disability package of care to allow them to thrive and support their families. The packages all meet an assessed need, such as respite for family, opportunities for the child to have fun or interact with peers in a supportive environment, provide opportunities for children to explore new skills, increase expertise in skills which will serve them throughout their lives, etc. As part of the market research and engagement the Council is interested in hearing from any providers that can provide different services for these children and young people, whether individually or as part of a group. It is important that these services can demonstrate the ability to meet outcomes for children and young people aged 5-18 years with a disability and can assist the child with skill progression. For example, a child increasing their ability to regulate, managing to interact with one peer, etc. These activities could be provided at any time, but of particular interest would be weekend activities.. Interested providers should note interest in this notice and the Council may then contact you for further information as part of its market research process.
