This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

This procurement process is being led by Dumfries and Galloway Council, a regional or local authority, aiming to engage a consultant for a technical and design role concerning the expansion of a saltmarsh site in Auchencairn, Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway. This initiative is currently in the planning stage, with a formal future notice expected by 1st August 2025. The project falls under the services category, focusing on environmental and hydrological impacts, with a procurement budget of £60,000. Businesses specialising in environmental consultancy, particularly those experienced in hydrological and ecological design, are well-placed to seize growth opportunities presented by this contract. The need for detailed modelling and assessment provides prospects for firms with capabilities in environmental impact studies, particularly related to sea level rise and climate adaptation projects. This tender offers significant potential for those offering expertise in biodiversity benefits and carbon sequestration strategies, aligning well with consultancies aiming to expand their portfolios within sustainable development projects. Engaging in such projects not only enhances a firm's experience in environmentally focused initiatives but also establishes connections within local government sectors.

Also to understand the hydrological impact on the remaining farm of allowing saltmarsh migration and also daylighting two burn running through the farm. Outline of works required 1)Review feasibility works already undertaken 2)Run detailed sea level inundation model for whole farm to fully understand the natural impacts of the farm unit. 3)Ground truth this model 4)Liaison with farming to understand impact on farm business 5)Look at feasibility and hydrological impacts of daylighting previously culverted burns 6)Complete a detailed project design to a level to allow for detailed cost estimates and tender of the works required 7)Estimate of carbon sequestration and biodiversity benefits.
