Notice Description

As part of the development process for a procurement strategy for Vehicle Counters and Speed Surveys, Argyll and Bute Council is seeking views and information from the marketplace in connection with the areas set out in this Request for Supplier Information (RFI). Information provided in response to this request will be used in the development of the procurement strategy. By issuing this RFI, Argyll and Bute Council does not make any commitment to procure any of the described services. Furthermore, receipt of this RFI should not be construed as authorisation to incur any costs for which reimbursement would be sought.

The Council is looking to identify parties interested in delivering Vehicle Counters and Speed Surveys as detailed in the attached RFI document. The Council undertakes vehicle speed and gap analysis surveys, without the need for in-road sensors, within both remote and urban settings. The existing traffic radar equipment (Black Cat, and QFree/Drakewell) has been in operation for approximately 10 years and requires modernisation. The replacement system must seek to achieve, and where possible better, the existing survey equipment through features such as improved remote access, intuitive user interface and data extraction, and increased battery life to improve the period of data capture available within busy settings. The equipment should last without replacement for at least ten years in the west of Scotland marine climate, with as high an IP rating as possible (at least IP67), and particular emphasis on water penetration..
