Summary of the contracting process

NHS National Services Scotland, acting through National Procurement, bought compounded aseptic medicines for NHS Scotland health boards, special health boards and Integrated Joint Boards across Scotland. The buyer accepted both ranked and unranked multi-supplier framework models: Lots 1, 2 and 3 were ranked, while Lot 4 allowed up to three framework participants per product line. Essential credentials included a current MHRA Manufacturing Specials Licence, or equivalent, covering every medicine offered, and BS EN ISO 9001 certification for the supplier and subcontractors.
