Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government has successfully completed the award of the contract titled "DOL - Children's Services Advocacy Support and Legal Representation." The aim was to provide advocacy support and legal advice to children aged 12-15 under the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004. The procurement process employed an open procedure and was categorised under services focusing on education and general public services. Located primarily in the UKM region, especially Edinburgh, this award was formally recognised on 6th March 2026, with advocacy services commencing thereafter. The procurement method ensures collaboration among relevant bodies to deliver the required services at a value of £1,241,350.18 GBP. Prior tender stages were initiated with the submission deadline set on 20th January 2026, marking subsequent award procedures.

This opportunity opens avenues for businesses specialising in legal services and children's advocacy, particularly those compliant with Scots Law or holding relevant qualifications from the Law Society of Scotland. Organisations involved in independent advocacy or legal representation could significantly benefit from this contract due to continuous demand for such services. The project accentuates quality over price in its award criteria with a substantial focus on maintaining service standards and environmental management measures. SMEs specialising in these areas can leverage this opportunity for growth, alongside developing sustainable supply chain practices. Now fully awarded, the contract exemplifies how adhering to high standards and legal requirements can establish a strong foothold in public procurement sectors.
