Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government, operating through its Marine Directorate, has initiated a tender process for the "Maintenance and Repair of Air Circuit Breakers" under the open procurement method. This service contract involves the maintenance of Air Circuit Breakers and conducting annual health assessments of low voltage switchboards on four Marine Directorate vessels. The contract is valued at £600,000 with a duration of 37 months, initially set to commence on 30th March 2026. Important timelines include a tender period ending on 13th February 2026 and an award period starting on the same date. The procurement process involves evaluating submissions based on quality and price, with electronic submission options available via the official procurement website.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities for firms specialised in electrical maintenance services, particularly those with experience in maritime equipment servicing. Companies with strong technical capabilities, a history of relevant contract fulfilment, and comprehensive environmental and quality management practices are well-positioned to benefit. Given the requirement for a yearly turnover of £600,000 over the past two years, suitable bidders will typically be those with a stable financial footing and robust operational capacity. Furthermore, the focus on sustaining optimal performance and reliability of marine equipment means businesses with advanced technical resources and skilled staffing will be competitive candidates in this procurement process.
