Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency, widely recognised as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), is currently in the tender stage for a framework agreement for the supply of Contraceptive Medicines. This procurement opportunity, titled "Contraceptive Medicines," is categorised under the health industry and involves multiple lots, each for different contraceptive products such as oral tablets, intrauterine devices, implants, injections, and other related items. The framework agreement will benefit health boards under the NHS Scotland Act 1978 and Integrated Joint Boards pursuant to the Public Bodies (Joint Working) Scotland Act 2014. Being managed through an open procurement procedure, the tender remains available for electronic submission through the Public Tenders Scotland portal until 12th March 2026.

This tender presents significant potential for business growth, particularly for companies within the pharmaceutical sector that manufacture or supply healthcare products, notably contraceptive solutions. Given the framework's substantial total value of approximately £12,017,956, it encourages robust participation by allowing submissions for up to five lots per supplier. Businesses with strong logistics capabilities and compliance with quality assurance standards, such as BS EN ISO 9001, are well-positioned to succeed. Moreover, engagement in eco-friendly practices and a commitment to community benefits can further enhance prospects. This procurement offers substantial multi-year opportunities, including potential extensions subject to performance, ensuring a sustainable revenue stream for successful suppliers.
