Summary of the contracting process

North Lanarkshire Council has completed a procurement process titled "Single Building Assessments - Phase 2" within the General Public Services and Housing industry categories, focusing on high-rise properties across North Lanarkshire. The procurement process utilised an open procedure under the services category and reached the award stage on 3rd June 2026, with the contract valued at GBP 1,613,047.50. The contract, endorsed by the Scottish Government, involved AFEC International Ltd as the supplier and was signed off with Scots Law applied. The awarded contract initially stems from a tender notice issued on 18th February 2026 and involved a comprehensive procurement journey, marking an end to the competitive tender phase by 31st March 2026.

This contracting process offers significant opportunities for consultancy firms, especially those with expertise in building assessments, particularly endorsed by the Scottish Government. Companies specialising in fire safety assessments, risk analysis, and consulting services within the construction and urban planning sectors would find this procurement particularly advantageous, as the scope involves evaluating fire performance, compartmentation, and related enabling works. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), especially those with existing experience in building assessments and compliance with public sector procurement criteria, stand a strong chance of expanding their portfolios through similar tenders. The procurement also aligns with community benefits, aiming to engage local businesses and services, thereby fostering supply chain development and community engagement in North Lanarkshire.
