Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Provision of UKAS-Accredited ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Certification" was conducted by Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), based in Edinburgh, with the aim to ensure compliance and effective management of their certification status across multiple SRUC sites in Scotland. The process followed an open procedure under the services category and involved the selection of a UKAS-accredited certification body to provide comprehensive audit services. Initially announced through a Prior Information Notice (PIN) for market engagement in February 2026, the tender phase began in March 2026. The award was finalized in June 2026 with BSI Assurance UK Ltd winning the contract valued at £106,944, which is set to span four years with the possibility of a two-year extension to accommodate two ISO certification cycles.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses operating in the certification and audit services sector, particularly those accredited by UKAS and experienced in handling public sector, education, or research-based organisation certifications. The contract's scope, encompassing surveillance and recertification audits, offers potential for long-term engagement and partnership. Firms with capabilities in delivering both on-site and remote audits are well-suited to undertake this project, especially those with a proven track record in delivering strategic audit solutions aligned with ISO and UKAS standards. The comprehensive nature of the work, focusing on quality, environmental, and safety management systems, aligns with businesses seeking growth through strategic long-term contracts in the UK service industry.
