Summary of the contracting process

Glasgow Women’s Library commissioned roofing works to replace two flat roofs at the rear of its building in Glasgow. The work involves stripping the existing layers back to the concrete deck, carrying out roof core and pull-out tests, then installing a new waterproof warm-roof system to the architect’s specification. Glasgow Women's Library is looking to appoint a suitably experienced contractor to re-roofing two flat roofs (area approximately 200m2) at the back of their building. The current build-up includes roof felt, layers of various timber roofing, PIR insulation and gravel/concrete slabs. The current roof build-up is to be stripped back down to the concrete slabs, and a roof core test and pull out test to be carried out. Once the suitability of the existing concrete deck is established, a new proposed waterproof system to be installed on the two flat roofs to architect's specification. Proposed new system: - Existing concrete deck - Protan Torch on VCL - Tapered Rockwool Insulation - the proposed product will be Hardrock Multi-Fix DD. The insulation design and thickness are to be confirmed following site visit / stripping of roof areas to ascertain heights or any other project constraints. - Protan SE 1.6 Membrane incorporated into the Protan Vacuum System Preferably proposed full system will be provided by Protan to ensure that Client receives a Single Point Warranty (Materials & Workmanship) on completion of the roofing works. Architect's drawings of details, product details and specifications and plan for tapered insulation build-up are provided in the tender documents.
