Summary of the contracting process

The Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS) has initiated a tender titled "Renewable Energy Transport Opportunities Study (HITRANSformers)" which is currently in the Tender stage. The focus is on assessing the impact of renewable energy projects on the transport network in the Highlands and Islands, aiming to facilitate Net Zero targets. The active tender, valued at GBP 100,000, seeks specialist consultants in renewable energy, transport planning, and logistics, with experience in the region. The tender follows an open procurement method, where submissions are accepted electronically until 20th July 2026, before awarding the contract on 27th July 2026.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in renewable energy consultancy, transport network planning, and logistics. Companies with expertise in these areas, particularly those experienced in working within the environmental and geographic context of the Highlands and Islands, are well-placed to contribute valuable insights and recommendations. The project not only supports environmental goals but also encourages local engagement, offering a pathway for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the transport and construction sectors to expand their business scope and secure collaborative contracts with public authorities.
