Summary of the contracting process

North Ayrshire Council, located at Cunninghame House, Friars Croft, Irvine, has concluded a procurement process for the "Service and Maintenance of Public Convenience Units, Irvine Beach." The procurement falls under the industry category of general public services, specifically aimed at maintaining bespoke Healthmatic-standard public convenience units. The process reached the award stage with a contract signed on 2nd June 2026. The contract, valued at £54,000, is set to commence on 13th July 2026 and will end on 12th July 2028. The procurement method was limited, with no prior call for competition, due to the technical specificity required for maintenance, which can only be provided by Healthmatic.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in public services support, particularly those adept at bespoke maintenance solutions. The limited procurement method reflects a niche market need, suggesting that businesses capable of developing or supporting proprietary systems would thrive in similar tenders. As Healthmatic was the sole successful bidder, it demonstrates the demand for unique, tailored maintenance capabilities in this field. Businesses looking to grow in tailored public infrastructure services may find success in aligning their offerings with those of niche, highly specialised maintenance solutions.
