Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency, known as Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland), is in the planning stages of a procurement process for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS). This process involves the purchase of digital temperature and humidity data loggers and includes associated software, support, and calibration services. Located in Edinburgh, the agency aims to replace the existing fleet, ensuring the new equipment aids in temperature monitoring from -196°C to +80°C and, if required, monitors relative humidity between 10% and 80% RH. The procurement, classified under the Health category within the UKM region, is scheduled to have a future notice date on 7th August 2026, indicating its current status as planned within the goods category.

This procurement presents noteworthy opportunities for businesses specialising in cutting-edge data logging technology and calibration services, particularly those with expertise in digital probe technology and cloud-based monitoring platforms. Companies that are CE/UKCA and UKAS-accredited, and capable of offering ongoing lifecycle support and minimal operational downtime, would find this tender significantly beneficial. The focus on advanced calibration exchange services means businesses equipped to innovate in this area can leverage this opportunity to engage closely with public health services, thus fostering growth and expanding their market presence.

Notice Title

Digital Temperature and Humidity Data Loggers

Notice Description

Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) intends to procure a range of temperature and humidity data loggers to replace their existing fleet together with associated software, support and calibration services

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) intends to procure a replacement fleet of digital temperature and humidity data loggers, together with associated software, support and calibration services. The solution must support temperature monitoring across a range of-196degC to +80degC and, where required, relative humidity monitoring between 10% and 80% RH. The system should support both analogue and digital probes, with a preference for digital probe technology, and provide local display, configurable alarms, audit functionality and connectivity to cloud-based or on-premises monitoring platforms. Equipment must be CE/UKCA marked and support calibration to UKAS-accredited ISO/IEC 17025 standards. SNBTS is particularly interested in solutions that support a digital probe calibration exchange service, allowing calibrated replacement probes to be exchanged without removing the logger from service. The service should include UKAS-traceable calibration, provision of "as found" calibration reports, and ongoing lifecycle support to minimise operational downtime.
