Summary of the contracting process

Dumfries and Galloway Council is in the planning stage of a procurement process to commission a service titled "Benefits Maximisation for low-income families." This initiative is specifically aimed at supporting low-income families within the region of UKM92, Dumfries. The procurement, classified under the services category, is expected to advance to public tender with a future notice date set for 20th August 2026. With a total estimated value of £10,000, this initiative forms part of the Fairer Futures Partnership aimed at providing vital welfare support and financial assistance to families in need.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for organisations that specialise in social services and welfare consultancy, particularly those experienced in offering benefits maximisation advice and support. Businesses equipped to engage effectively and sensitively with vulnerable families, offering tailored support via phone or email, will find this contract suitable. Firms capable of delivering a qualitative and quantitative analysis of service outcomes are well-placed to contribute to the Fairer Futures Partnership's goal of reducing child poverty. Participation in this procurement not only supports community welfare but also enhances the service provider's credentials in public sector social initiatives.

Notice Description

Dumfries and Galloway Council intend to commission an organisation to provide a benefits maximisation to complement the work we are carrying out through our Fairer Futures Partnership (FFP). Lot Information

Lot 1

The organisation should; Provide benefits maximisation calculations to 30 parents referred into them by FFP keyworkers Carry-out the calculation with parents in their preferred method (phone call or email) and understanding that our parents might not always respond immediately Understand and be sensitive to the needs of families living in poverty Provide practical support when possible or practicable Provide the parents and key workers the outputs and finding of their benefits maximisation calculation with clear steps on what to do next Record engagement, outcomes and any increase in income they are aware of, and to share this with the FFP team To provide a quantitative and qualitative report at the end which looks at key themes which have arisen through the commission. Benefit maximisation is a vital strategy to reduce child poverty. It ensures low-income households secure the full welfare support and financial assistance they are legally entitled to, lifting families out of poverty. This commission allows us to extend our reach through our FFP in Dumfries and Galloway and to provide this intervention to more families.
