School Cycle Training

The London Borough of Hounslow (LBH) is seeking to appoint a Contractor to deliver cycle training and cycling related services for primary school aged children. The contract is contingent on funding received from TfL or/and funding secured from other successful bids in which the council submits. The core aim of the school cycle training programme is to ensure that as many ten (10) and eleven (11) year old children in the borough can cycle safely on road by achieving Bikeability Level 1 & 2 in line with National Bikeability Guidelines. A secondary aim of the programme is to get more children making trips by bike, especially on the journey to and from school. We currently train approximately 1600 children in 44 of LBH primary schools with a potential to work in more primary schools, this training is carried out through the school year with greater numbers of children being trained in the autumn and summer terms. To achieve this, we seek a Contractor to deliver Bikeability training levels one (1) and two (2) combined in LBH primary schools for years six (6) by accredited trainers. This tuition will follow the National Bikeability Delivery Standards. Should include a preliminary check of bicycles or a Dr Bike to be carried out before the start of training at schools with a three (3) or more class intake per year. The London Borough of Hounslow is seeking an experience provider to deliver Adult & Family Cycle Training. The core aim of adult & family cycle training is to deliver cyclist training at weekends and some during week to adults over sixteen (16) who would like beginner, refresher or confidence booster sessions in small groups, also for families who would like to learn as a family group. We currently run five (5) cycle training group sessions at Lampton Park, Osterley Park, Heston Park, Feltham Park and Hanworth Park. Hounslow is actively seeking a further location in Hounslow West to deliver additional sessions This contract is contingent on funding received from TfL or/and funding secured from other successful bids in which the council submits In the last financial year Hounslow council had 1102 number of attendances in our group sessions. There is no requirement to book in advance, trainees turn up on the day, this is closely monitored and where sessions are reaching fully capacity an additional instructor is requested. All participants use bikes provided by Hounslow Council at no cost to participants. This project will utilise UKSPF grant funding, which has a specific criteria of improving high streets and working to deliver local people's priorities, and therefore does not have an impact on the Council's own Capital budgets. Following the completion of a standstill period at midnight on the 13th May 2024 London Borough of Hounslow intend to appoint West London Trust to lead the provision of community health services in Hounslow for 21 months delivering a wide range of Local Authority commissioned community health services to support delivery of these priorities: • Improve outcomes in population health and healthcare • Prevent ill-health and tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, access to care • Enhance productivity and value for money • Support broader economic and social development Services to be delivered as part of the contract: Hounslow Falls Prevention Service The aim of the service is delivery of a whole system and community coordinated approach to preventing falls through partnership working using existing skills knowledge and expertise to solve problems and realise opportunities. At the core of this Service is a clinically led, referral based intervention service, supported by a wider information and advice offer. CVD Prevention (Healthy Hounslow) Healthy Hounslow is an Alliance of providers who deliver the borough’s integrated health and wellbeing service. The aim of the CVD Prevention service is an early intervention, detection, and prevention service in the community. 0-19 Service Healthy Child Programme (HCP) Our Public Health Nursing (PHN) offer incorporates Health Visiting (HV) and School Nursing (SN) services to deliver Hounslow's Healthy Child programme (HCP).
