Notice Title

PACS - DMS Picture Archiving and Communication System

Notice Description

"Current Status The Centre for Defence Radiology migrated from RadCentre to IMPAX RIS and form PACS IMPAX 6.4 to Enterprise Imaging in 2017. All radiological images produced by Defence Radiology since 1999 and all Operational imaging acquired by UK Armed Forces since Op TELIC have been recorded digitally and the supporting data is stored on the current PACS (in excess of 22 million Defence medical images) and RIS servers. When Service personnel are treated at NHS or Private hospitals these establishments have a responsibility for the data produced. However, the images acquired at request of the MoD in private hospitals belong to the MoD as it is a contracted task. As a consequence the MoD has a responsibility and will need a copy of images and reports. Hospital archiving retention timelines differ from those of the MoD. As technology and networks have developed the PACS/RIS capabilities have been upgraded and expanded to allow dispersed military healthcare facilities (UK and overseas) to connect to the core CDR PACS and RIS servers."
