Summary of the contracting process

The Northern Lighthouse Board is seeking contractors for the construction of the Portain Beacon located in Edinburgh, Scotland. This project, classified under marine construction works, entails the creation of a 10.5-metre high structure designed to improve navigation safety. The procurement is currently in the tender stage, set to close on 24 August 2020. The contract value is estimated between £100,000 and £500,000, with a contract period running from 16 November 2020 to 31 March 2021. The procurement method is an open procedure, making this an accessible opportunity for various suppliers.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) specialising in construction and marine works to engage in a valuable public project. Businesses with experience in marine construction, installation of navigation systems, or diving services would be particularly well-suited to compete. The project aims to enhance maritime safety, which aligns well with businesses aiming to expand their portfolio within the public sector and contribute to infrastructural development in marine environments.
