Notice Title
Retaining wall and Butterfly House external works
Notice Description
Gardener's Yard Retaining Wall Works The gardener's yard is a staff only area occupying higher ground than the neighbouring residential property. A retaining wall forming the edge of the Horniman's estate requires replacement and this part of the work involves enabling works consisting of removing a diesel storage tank on the Horniman's property (allowing for reinstatement). The retaining wall will then be constructed according to the structural engineers design and keeping disturbance to the neighbouring property to a minimum. Upon completion a brick face and lower level planter on the resident's side will be installed. Diesel tank and fencing replaced. External Works to Butterfly House The Butterfly House is a publicly charged for exhibition in a glasshouse displaying butterflies from around the world. It is one of the few charged for exhibitions at the Horniman Museum and is open from 10:30am - 4pm, seven days a week. The works to the external area are to complete the external landscaping around the Butterfly House, and include vegetation removal, installation of reinforced concrete and gabion basket retaining structures, repair and laying of concrete and tarmac surfaces to a restricted driveway and to the main vehicle route through the gardens. A new surface water drainage connection will be made to remove surface water from the newly paved areas, a new connection will be formed into the existing sewer. A new concrete base will be provided for an existing rainwater harvesting tank, a new cycle parking area created and hoop top fencing will be extended along the boundary of a newly formed level planting bed, to be left ready for planting by others. The works area is publicly visible and some work will be in publicly accessible areas. Care should be taken to not disrupt the operation of the Butterfly House either through excessive noise or disruption to building services. The gardens and Butterfly House are popular visitor attractions for families with young children. The effective management of health and safety risks is considered key for the successful delivery of these works. For your tender return to be considered as compliant, you are required to return the following; Form of Tender duly signed Tender Sum Analysis (Pricing Document) fully priced. A detailed programme for the works with critical path and associated information required. Evidence of your insurances, VAT registration and UTR - Three references of recent relevant works. Details of your company history and profile, including financial information and environmental policy A completed quality assessment questionnaire. Digital tender submissions must be received by 10am Monday 23rd November 2020. Paper tender submissions must be received by noon on 24th November 2020. A compliant tender requires tender submission in both a paper and digital format to be received by the Horniman Museum at the times detailed above.
