Summary of the contracting process

The University of Warwick is seeking suppliers for the "High Performance Computing Facility Purchase and Future Call Off Framework," a procurement focused on refreshing their tier 3 central High Performance Computing facilities within the data-processing machines category. The tender has reached the award stage, with the contract awarded on 17th January 2017. The contract period commenced on 29th December 2016 and will run until 29th December 2017. Bids for this procurement were initially due by midday on 25th November 2016, but the deadline was extended to 30th October 2016, allowing additional time for prospective suppliers to prepare their submissions. This procurement process followed an open procedure under the Public Contracts Regulations, although the University of Warwick operates outside these regulations for this procurement initiative.

This tender presents considerable opportunities for businesses looking to expand in the technology and data processing sectors, particularly those specialising in hardware and associated software solutions. Companies that can provide high-performance computing equipment and have experience in framework agreements would be well-suited for this tender. Engaging with the University of Warwick, a significant academic institution in the UK, could lead to further opportunities beyond this specific contract, especially given that this tender serves as a framework for future requirements as well.
