GB-Reading: Napier Road Subway
Notice Description
Reading Borough Council, as part of the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF), is looking to reopen a derelict tunnel under the Great Western Mainline railway in order to provide a new pedestrian and cycle link and is therefore inviting tenders from experience Civil Engineering contractors to undertake all works necessary to convert the disused rail tunnel into a pedestrian/cycle subway link between Napier Road and Kenavon Drive in Reading, Berkshire. The works will consist of the following construction activities: *Site clearance *Fencing and landscaping works *Installation of foot/cycleway bituminous pavement including kerbing and drainage *Contractor electrical and illumination design *Installation of nominated subway lighting and installation of CCTV camera systems *Application of proprietary anti-graffiti coating to subway walls below arch springing level *Injection of proprietary waterproofing system to extrados of north and south arch structures *Localised crack sealing and repointing of arch masonry The contract, which is expected to start in May 2015, will be for a period of twelve weeks and all works must be completed in accordance with the contract specification and by the deadlines set by the Council. The estimated total value of the contract is circa 300,000 GBP. Additional information: This is a competitive procurement exercise being conducted in accordance with the Council's Contracts Procedure Rules. The works are to be procured under an open procedure and organisations interested in expressing an interest should download the Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation which is available on the South East Business Portal at: https://www.businessportal.southeastiep.gov.uk/sece/opportunity.nsf/fcontent?ReadForm&requesttype=viewcontract®ion=REG-UATA-79EMAL&authority=ORG-DNWA-7BSKBT&docid=OS-DNWA-9UJKQ6&sd=&stype=&rv=authority&start=1&count=10&contentid=1.003 and complete as instructed. Please note: you must register your interest via the South East Business Portal and/or directly by e-mail to: bridges@reading.gov.uk, quoting Contract Reference Number WKC051, if you intend to submit a tender; we will acknowledge receipt. The Portal is free of charge - to register please follow the supplier registration guidance which is available on the Portal. If your organisation has not registered an expression of interest we will not be able to send you any amendments to the ITT documents, or send you responses to requests for ITT clarification from other potential candidates. You are advised to register your interest in this opportunity if you wish to be automatically supplied with any supplementary information. Any further information, such as ITT clarification questions and responses will be uploaded to the South East Business Portal. The ITT documents will be available for download from the South East Business Portal up until the closing time and date for tender submissions; it is the organisation's responsibility to ensure that they download the documents in ample time to ensure that they can be completed and returned, along with supporting documents, prior to the closing time and date stipulated. The closing date and time for receipt of the tender is Friday 10 April 2015 at 12:00 noon. Tenders must be completed and submitted in hard copy and returned to the address stated at 11. using the tender return label provided. In addition to the hard copy required tenderers must also provide an electronic version of their ITT submission on an encrypted memory stick (USB). Reading Borough Council does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender subsequently received and does not bind itself to enter into any contract as a result of the publication of this notice and will not, under any circumstances, have any liability for any costs any person responding to this notice incurs in any part of the tender process.
