Summary of the contracting process

The Home Office is preparing for the re-procurement of its General Identity Verification Solution (GIDV), starting with an Early Market Engagement process. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, focusing on the industry category of biometric sensors, IT software packages, and software development services. Key activities include a market engagement webinar scheduled for 31st October 2025 at 10:00 AM UK time, to be held via Microsoft Teams. Interested parties should register by 30th October 2025. The engagement process aims to inform suppliers about the forthcoming tender expected in 2026, with an estimated contract value of up to £125 million and a term of up to seven years. The procurement will be conducted through a Competitive Flexible Procedure, addressing locations including the UK and various international regions.

This early market engagement offers a significant opportunity for businesses involved in biometric identity verification, specifically those with capabilities in facial recognition, chip reading, liveness detection, and secure system integration. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to engage as the project supports such entities. Through participation in the webinar and RFI, businesses can influence the tender's requirements, ensuring they are both accessible and commercially viable. The initiative represents an opportunity to contribute to shaping a critical UK immigration service, fostering business growth through innovation and partnership with the Home Office.
