Summary of the contracting process

The MHRA Buyer Organisation is currently planning a procurement process for a "Gel camera system" intended for the imaging of gels using UV and white light. This procurement falls under the medical imaging equipment industry category (CPV code: 33110000) and is set to be delivered in the East of England, United Kingdom. Interested suppliers must express their interest by 8 March 2019, as the organisation intends to make a direct award if no competing submissions are received by this deadline.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses specialising in imaging equipment, particularly those that can provide advanced systems capable of handling ethidium bromide and SYBR green-stained gels, with features like WiFi connectivity and software for analysing images. Companies focused on laboratory and optical equipment, including manufacturers or suppliers of medical imaging technology, would be well-suited to compete for this contract and expand their market presence.

Notice Description

The Agency is looking for a supplier who can provide us with a Gel camera system. We require a gel camera system for the safe imaging of gels with UV and white light. Images should be transferable via WiFi, &/or ethernet, &/or USB port. The system should feature a transilluminator capable of both ~302nm and 365nm UV wavelengths and handling both ethidium bromide and SYBR green-stained gels. Systems with software for assessing band size and/or intensity would be preferred. Potential suppliers if they feel they can meet the requirement should email Nawaz.habib@nibsc.org to register an interest. If no submissions of potential interest are received by close of play 08 March 2019, it is then intended to perform a direct award without competition to the sole supplier we believe can deliver the required service.
